Welcome to our latest newsletter, a showcase for some of the exciting projects we've been working on recently.  These include:

  • A hugely popular seminar covering all aspects of the Single Equality Bill;
  • An equalities workshop which we ran at the Improvement and Development Agency's Leadership Academy;
  • Links with the Chickenshed Theatre Company and how we're using drama as part of our training prgrammes; and
  • Procurement and Commissioning - and the FREE seminars we're offering to all our clients, including YOU!

Equalities Workshop Delivers Key Strategic Themes

A landmark workshop covering the strategic elements of equality and inclusion was delivered by Equality Works at the Improvement and Development Agency’s (IDeA) Leadership Academy in the summer.  Co-ordinated by Senior Client Consultant, Dan Robertson, the workshop formed part of an ongoing relationship we’ve developed with the IDeA Healthy Communities Team.

The enthusiastic workshop participants comprised lead members and portfolio holders for adult social care or health, as well as chairs of health and social care scrutiny committees.  Their attendance at the Leadership Academy is part of a new approach by the IDeA to community wellbeing, adult services and healthy communities.

The ‘Single Equality Bill’ – A Successful Seminar

Growing client interest in the implications of the Single Equality Bill prompted Equality Works' to organise a half-day seminar last June.

Hosted at the Royal Society of Arts in central London, the event was introduced by our Chief Executive, Jane Farrell, and well received by the delegates who attended.

Jane’s theme was the journey of inequalities in Britain and the path leading to the development of the Bill.  Equality Works’ Senior Consultants, Natasha Landers and Dan Richardson, followed with presentations which included an overview of the Bill as well as the opportunities and challenges created by the Bill with particular reference to Human Resources, Services and Procurement/Commissioning.

If you'd like to attend our seminars…
Please let our Business Services Team know if you would like to attend the other seminars we are running later this year – including ‘Positive Action'.

Procurement and Commissioning – The Way We See It…

At Equality Works, we’ve always viewed the procurement and commissioning of public services as key drivers in embedding the best practice principles of equality and inclusion within national, regional and local organisations.

This can be seen clearly in our work to date where we’ve applied standards of good practice to supporting clients ranging from local authorities to healthcare providers, UK charities and regional development agencies.

For more information, please visit the Procurement and Commissioning section on our website.

Be ready to take Positive Action…
